Project description
The Global Network is taking the groundbreaking Bending the Curve initiative to new heights. While the original project mapped future pathways to reverse biodiversity decline due to land use change, the new initiative dives deeper, promising even more impactful results, this time with the incorporation of climate change. The initial success lay in its crystal-clear message: we can pivot from current development paths to a nature-positive future.
Currently, Knowledge Hub members are systematically reviewing global literature on scenarios that project, halt, or reverse biodiversity declines. This comprehensive review will uncover common methodologies, pinpoint knowledge gaps, and highlight the most relevant findings to understand the current landscape of biodiversity scenarios. Once completed, the study will be accessible on our Resources page.
Building on the insights from “Bending the Curve,” we’ve assembled a research team similar to the original, however, now with a broader scope – the Global Network. This team will integrate new empirical data, identifying actionable pathways to reverse biodiversity decline amid the twin challenges of climate and land use change. The spotlight is now on including climate change and climate policy as both culprits and solutions for biodiversity loss. This forthcoming analysis, powered by a multi-model ensemble approach and involving top-tier integrated assessment and biodiversity modelling teams, promises to deliver a comprehensive and robust analysis
Join us on this exciting journey as we strive to create a future where biodiversity thrives. Keep an eye on our Resources page for the upcoming publication and other valuable insights.
