Amazon Region Network Workshop – Belém (BR), 9 – 12 September 2024

This workshop united the Amazonian initiatives and organisations to tackle the critical question: What does it take to bend the curve of biodiversity loss in the Amazon? Over three and a half days, participants mapped the drivers of biodiversity loss and devised actions to tackle these to bend the curve. The workshop was a successful kickstart of the community, where participants established three main workstreams: 1) modelling and connectivity of the Amazon, 2) narratives of change, 3) Mapping and expanding existing networks and initiatives.

Global Network Workshop – Utrecht (NL), 28 – 29 May 2024

The Bending the Curve 2.0 workshop took place on 28th-29th May 2024 at Utrecht University, the Netherlands, hosted by Utrecht University and the Netherlands Environmental Assessment Agency (PBL). The workshop was the kick-start for a follow-up analysis of the Bending the Curve initiative (Leclère et., al 2020) and brought together 33 specialists from 11 biodiversity and integrated assessment modelling teams, many of which have been part of the first initiative. In two action-packed days, participants forged ahead with bold plans for the Global network, agreeing on a timeline, proto-modelling protocol, and follow-up activities.

World Biodiversity Forum – Davos (CH), 16 – 21 June 2024

The 2024 edition of the World Biodiversity Forum took place under the theme “From Science to Action” – connecting researchers with practitioners and social actors. Hence, a perfect opportunity to share our preliminary results, network and promote the Knowledge Hub. Flavia Aschi presented her systematic literature review on biodiversity scenarios during the session on “Models and scenarios for biodiversity & NCP at regional to global scales”.
